Obituary: Provided by eileencw (#47696439) WELL KNOW WOMAN PASSES Emeline Johnson was born in Ohio, November 2, 1850, and passed from this life at her home in Lincoln March 23, having reached the age 72 years, four months and twenty-one days. In her native state she obtained her education and grew to young womanhood. In 1873 she came to California, and was united in marriage with Ezra Johnson, of whom she was bereft in 1906. In 1914 was united in marriage with L. A. Johnson, who survives. For practically a half century she had lived in the western Placer County, the greater portion having been spent in the vicinity of Lincoln. During her long residence she had many friends in this section of the state. Unlike many her age, she enjoyed singular good health up to within a few days of her departure. Along with her remarkable constitution she possessed a disposition that enables her to overcome difficulties that would weigh another down. Cheerful about her work, she labored incessantly. Of late she had taken less responsibility in public matters, though she always rejoiced in the success of every worthy achievement. She was very industrious, keeping busy about her domestic affairs until a few days prior to her death which came peacefully as the sleep of a little child. Kindhearted and considerate, she found time to help those in need, being well known by the older residents of the community. Beside her bereaved companion, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Chris Sorensen of Lincoln, Mrs. R. B. Fairbanks and Mrs. L. B. Mourier of Roseville, and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Warren G. Lovejoy and Miss Loretia Johnson of Lincoln. One daughter preceded her several years ago. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Rickie Richards, and two brothers. Bill and James Sears in Ohio, and eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, all residing in this part of the state. The funeral services, which were largely attended, were held from the residence in Lincoln, Rev. T. H. Mee pastor of the Roseville Methodist church, afficiating and the music was furnished by the Lincoln choir. Interment was in the family plot in Lincoln where many floral offerings beautified the last resting place of one beloved.
