Coon Rapids Enterprise April 27, 1928 Page 1 Mrs. Henry Bowman died last Friday at her home in Coon Rapids. She was Ill but a short time and her demise was most unexpected. While not in the best of health for several months and for a day or two before her death confined a part of the time to her bed, her condition was not regarded as critical. The funeral was held from the AME Church Monday afternoon, Reverend W. F. Kleberg officiating. A large number of friends attended showing their highest esteem for their longtime friend and neighbor. Mrs. Henry Bowman was the mother of nine children, all living, though the widely separated. She was a woman dearly beloved by her near relatives and many associates and her passing bring sorrow to many hearts. The following obituary was read from the pulpit. Nancy Cromer was born December 10, 1857 at Muscatine Iowa. She lived there with her parents until she was united in marriage to Henry Bowman January 1, 1876. In the year 1881 they moved to this locality purchasing a farm in Greene County where they resided until 1908 when they moved near Coon Rapids, later moving to town where they resided until her death April 20, 1928 at the age of 70 years 4 months and 10 days. Mrs. Bowman was a mother of nine children- 7 boys and 2 girls. All of them are living and present at the funeral. Mrs. Edna Blanchard, Eugene Francis and Roscoe Bowman of Letcher, S. D., Henry of Kennebeck, S. D., Curtis of Lang, Sask., Canada, Hiram of Oregon, Lincoln and Mrs. Josephine Galloway of Coon Rapids. Her husband, Mr. Henry Bowman and the children have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. She also leaves to mourn their loss eight grandchildren, six brothers and two sisters besides a host of other relatives and friends. At the age of 16 she was converted and united with the Methodist Church. She transferred her membership to the Star Methodist Church when moving to that community and was a member there until the end. She was a devoted wife and mother and tender, always so loving and kind and thoughtful of her family and others. Her talent most probably absorbed by all who knew her with her sweet spirit and loving graces of which nature had so beautifully bestowed together with gentle courage always to do right. This held her a place in the of esteem among all her acquaintances. Her daily life and humble ministry was a reflection of Our Lord. As a neighbor and a friend, she spared no strength and doing those things which make life brighter. As we feel the loss of one so dear, there is both one consolation and all in that death is not an end in itself but is the place where the streams of Life are merging to the oceans of eternity. It is the turning point in the endless path of existence.
