Read More	Wife: Nancy (IOOF459 Marker) Coon Rapids Enterprise March 3, 1933 Page 1 With the passing of Henry Bowman, 78, at his home here on February 22nd, this community lost another of those sturdy pioneers who came here in an early day, carved out a home, reared a family and left a fine record of industry, integrity and community spirit. Locating near the present site of the Star church some fifty years ago, Mr. Bowman took a leading part in the development of that community. He joined the Methodist Episcopal church there in 1886 and retained his membership until his death. He helped in the building of the old church and took an active part in all community interests. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge. Funeral services in charge of Rev. Clayburg were held at the Methodist church here Sunday, many of his old friends from the Star community attending. Burial was in the local cemetery by the side of his wife who passed away in 1928. The obituary as read at the service follows: Henry Bowman, son of Samuel and Verena Bowman, was born in Philadelphia, Pa., July 1, 1854. When but a small boy he moved with his parents to Muscatine, Iowa. On January 1, 1876, he married Nancy Cromer. They moved to Scranton and later bought a farm in Greene county, about six miles northeast of Coon Rapids, where they reared their family of seven boys, and two girls. Later they moved to Coon Rapids where they made their home. Early in life Mr. Bowman identified himself with the best interests of the community. He was one of the first members on record of the Star Methodist church, uniting with this church on August 8, 1886, were he retained his membership until his death. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Mrs. Bowman preceded him in death on April 20, 1928. The children remaining to mourn his passing are Mrs. Edna Blanchard, Eugene Bowman, Francis and Roscoe Bowman, all of Letcher, South Dakota, Henry Bowman of Kennebeck, South Dakota, Curtis Bowman of Lang, Sask., Canada, Hiram Bowman of Cornwallis, Oregon, and Mrs. Melvin Galloway and Lincoln Bowman of Coon Rapids. Of Mr. Bowman's eight brothers and sisters but two survive; Will, aged 75, of Coon Rapids and John, 91, of Muscatine. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. At the time of his passing Mr. Bowman had reached the advanced age of 78 years, 7 months and 21 days
