Patterson, 82, daughter of Montana pioneers, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1971, at Park Place rest home in Great Falls where she had been a resident for the past three years. Patterson, 82, daughter of Montana pioneers, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1971, at Park Place rest home in Great Falls where she had been a resident for the past three years. Nell Harris was born in Fort Benton March 10, 1889. She was the daughter of John Harris, who came to Montana in 1862 before the major gold discoveries, and began ranching here in 1872. Her mother, Addie Berry Harris, was born at Alder Gulch in 1867. The Harris children attended school in Fort Benton. Nell married Jack H. Patterson in 1909. She resided at Highwood for years, where Mr. Patterson operated a garage business and Ford agency. In 1933 Mrs. Patterson moved to Oregon, residing there for a couple years, but in 1935 returned to the Highwood area where she made her home with Mrs. Addie Harris on the home ranch. In later years she lived at LaJolla, Calif., returning to Great Falls in 1968. Survivors include two sons, Edward B. Patterson, San Pedro, Calif., and William H. Patterson, Philadelphia; a brother, Howell Harris, Highwood; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wilson, Escondido, Calif.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Barbara Harris Clarke and Mrs. Ann Phelan, and brothers, Ed and John Harris, preceded her in death.
