Pete was born June 29, 1922, in Topeka to Joseph and Elizabeth Lambrecht Meier. He was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a life-long member, also attending St. Joseph Grade School. He was a 1940 graduate of Capitol Catholic High School (Hayden Catholic High). Pete joined the Knights of Columbus when he was 18 years old, is a member of the James W. Gibbons Fourth Degree Assembly and participated in Nocturnal Adoration until 2014. He and his brother Raymond helped make noodles and bierocks for the Church. At the annual St. Joseph Summer Socials, Pete could always be found at the ice cream stand. Pete farmed with his father and brothers, Leonard and Raymond at J.C. Meier and Sons. He loved visiting with everyone and was "Uncle Pete" to everyone. He was a member of the Vegetable Growers of Kansas and the Germans From Russia Society. And Pete was an avid WWF fan. Left to cherish Pete's memory are his brother, his sister-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his brothers, Casper, Joseph, Augustine, Sylvester, Hubert, Leonard, Raymond, Nicholas and sisters, Marie Weigel and Lucile Krische. Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Joseph Church. The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. followed by the James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Chalice Ceremony. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
