He graduated from Capitol Catholic High School (Hayden) and served in the Army from 1951-1953, where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked his entire life as a vegetable grower and farmer. He married Doris Lutz, June 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she survives. He is survived by son, Dana Meier, daughters, Colleen Jacobs (Jim), Anita Stindt (Bruce), and Katrina Rosebaugh (Ray), grandchildren, Lauren, Ben, Kendra, Nick, Jacob, Alec, Alison, Olivia and Caleb. Brother, Pete and Ray’s twin brother, Robert also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marie and Lucile, brothers, Casper, Joseph, Sylvester, Augie, Hubert, and Leonard. Ray was a lifelong member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, Knights of Columbus Council #2608, and the Historical Society of Germans from Russia. Since high school he was a Mass Cantor at St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the choir. In his retirement he was able to continue his hobby of woodworking. His specialty was footstools. Ray loved using discarded scraps of wood to create beautiful works of art. He received great joy from giving them away and telling about each type of wood and its origin. He spent many hours volunteering at church, making bierocks, noodles, and German Sausage sold at fund raisers. Ray sang at many funerals. Heaven has a new tenor in its choir. The family would like to thank the caring individuals from Midland Care Hospice, especially, Dani, Beth and Amanda. Ray will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 P.M. the Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St Joseph/Sacred Heart Parish, Hayden High School or to Midland Care Hospice sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
