In the 1900 census Steen was living in Loudon Township, Carroll County, Ohio. He was listed as age 78 born February 1822 in Ohio, his wife Lydia age 66 born August 1833 in Pennsylvania. It stated they were married for 50 years, and Steen's father was born in Ireland and his mother was born in Pennsylvania. Lydia's parents were born in Pennsylvania. His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, September 28, 1900. Steen McIntyre, an old citizen of Loudon Township, and one of the oldest in the county, died Friday from the ailments of old age. He was born in Jeferson County February 21, 1822, of parents who were born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. There were seven in his father's family, Steen being the youngest except one. In 1825, when Steen was 3 years old, his father moved to Rock Township, Jefferson County, (Now Lee Township, Carroll County,) where he entered 80 acres, built a log cabin, lived and died a pioneer. The father died in 1835, the mother in 1854. They were members of the Seceder Church. Steen learned the Blacksmith trade with William Baxter in Carrollton, a trade he followed in different parts of the county up till 1880. In 1850 he was united in marriage with Miss Lydia Newcomer and three children were born to them: Elizabeth (dead), Mrs. Emma Wilson and John B. who lives near the farm home. In 1865 Mr. McIntire bought 100 acres where he has since lived. In politics he was always a stauch democrat, and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. McIntire was known through-out a long and useful life as an industrious, honest and useful man. His virtues will long be remembered.
