Private committal services will take place at Hillsdale Cemetery, east of Madrid. Betty was born on September 27, 1936 in Boone, Iowa to Melvin R. and Margaret (Ridpath) Rose. She had resided in Madrid most of her life. Betty retired from CIGNA Insurance, where she did clerical work. Prior to that, Betty was formerly employed with Continental Labs in Madrid for 20 years, and followed with Greyhound Transportation in Des Moines. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Joyce (Curt) Maddux of Madrid and Diane (David) Fox of Johnston; son, Richard (Cindy) Brown of Madrid; two sisters, Carol Whiteside of California and Pat Fees of Polk City; two brothers, Ron Rose of Slater and Bob Rose of Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, Scott, Carrie, Alicia, Maleah, Jennifer, Katie and Meredith; and eight great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Stephen Brown. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous care and loving support Betty received from the staff of both Hospice of Central Iowa, especially her nurses, Abi Albecht and Aree Baker; and the Madrid Home, especially Chaplain Carla Werre. Memorials may be made to the Betty J. Brown Memorial Fund.
