Description	:	Buried in a fenced in area with husband John Young. Born near Paris, France. Married John Young on July 20, 1846 at St Ann's Church in Fremont, Ohio. They had a daughter, Mary Adeline Young. In 1850 Mr. Young left his wife and children in Ohio, while he came overland to California to seek his fortune with many others of the time. Married John Young on July 20, 1846 at St Ann's Church in Fremont, Ohio. They had a daughter, Mary Adeline Young. In 1850 Mr. Young left his wife and children in Ohio, while he came overland to California to seek his fortune with many others of the time. The next year [1851] he went back by way of Panama and returned by the same route with his wife and children. They settled at Mormon Island in Sacramento county, and set up a Hotel. After several years they moved to Cooper's ravine where they kept for a number of years what was known as the Ohio House, a then noted wayside hostelry. In 1862 they moved from Placerville, El Dorado county, to Last chance, where they were interested in mines. In 1872 they moved to Auburn and then to Colfax and finally in 1876, they moved to Iowa Hill, where they owned and ran the Stat Hotel. Mr. John Young died in 1888 and for several years Mrs. Young conducted the Hotel herself and then sold it. She was an artiste in the culinary arts and happy was the miner who happened in at meal time at her hospitable board, where without much urging he would do ample justice to the meal. Death of another Pioneer On Sunday morning, March 10th, Mrs. Catherine Young of Iowa Hill died at the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. T. W. James of that place, at the advanced age of 78 years. Mr.s Young was born in France in 1822, came with her parents to New York when a child of nine years, where they resided until she was grown[1844], when they moved to Fremont, Ohio. Where in 1846 she married John Young. Mrs. Young was buried Monday, March 11th, from the Methodist Church of which she was a member by the Rebeccas. She leaves to mourn her loss a sister Mrs. M.M. Hazeltine of Baker City, Oregon; a brother Frederick Fabing of Fremont, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. P.M. [Mary Adeline Young] Crary of Long Valley, and Mrs. G.O.P. [Emma Joesphine Young] Hilton of Portland, Oregon; sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
