Description	:	NORTH BALTIMORE - Charlotte E. Vorwerk, a retired school principal, died Saturday in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Township. She was 64. Mrs. Vorwerk, who was an educator in Fulton County and Hancock County schools for 30 years, died from an extended illness, her husband, Clayton, said. He said her health began to slowly decline eight years ago after she had been sick with spinal meningitis. Mrs. Vorwerk grew up near Archbold, where her father owned and operated a turkey farm and processing plant. She graduated from Archbold High School in 1954. Mrs. Vorwerk grew up near Archbold, where her father owned and operated a turkey farm and processing plant. She graduated from Archbold High School in 1954. She received a bachelor's degree from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Va. She later earned a master's degree from the University of Toledo. Mrs. Vorwerk began her teaching career as a fifth-grade teacher at Delta Elementary School. She taught five years and then took a job as elementary curriculum coordinator for Hancock County Schools. Elmer Joseph, retired Hancock County Schools superintendent, said she was in charge of supervising the education of elementary students in the county, including the curriculum and testing. "She was top-notch. She was well liked by the other teachers and by the local superintendents," Mr. Joseph said. After working for the county education office for 10 years, Mrs. Vorwerk accepted the position of principal at Van Buren Elementary School. She retired in 1978. Surviving is her husband, Clayton. Services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Archbold United Methodist Church. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today in the Smith-Crates Funeral Home, where a prayer service is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The family requests tributes to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
