Description	:	Donna Mae Sauder Gnagey, 80, died peacefully Sunday, February 20, 2011, at her home at Fairlawn Retirement Community in Archbold, Ohio. Donna’s husband of 58 years, Allen D. Gnagey, preceded her in death just three weeks previously. Donna was born in Wauseon, OH, January 20, 1931, the youngest of three daughters of Harry and Viola Yedica Sauder. Her sister Betty Troyer, Elida, OH, and brother-in-law Dale Gautsche, Archbold, survive her. A sister Leanna Gautsche and brother-in-law Leonard Troyer preceded her in death. Donna lived all her life in the Pettisville-Archbold area. She graduated from Pettisville High School as valedictorian in 1949. Donna worked at King-Wyse in the office before her marriage to Allen Gnagey June 21, 1952 at Central Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker as she raised four children and worked several years at Fairlawn Nursing Home in housekeeping. She had the gift of hospitality and was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls and doughnuts. During the 1970’s Donna baked for the Das Essen Haus, owned in part by her sister Leanna Gautsche. In 1976 Donna and Allen began the Doughbox Bakery at the Sauder Museum complex, which they owned for twenty years. Donna was baptized and an active member at Central Mennonite Church. She served frequently as a Sunday school teacher, on the kitchen committee, and participated in church organizations and ministries, such as WMSC, Ohio Mennonite Conference, and Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA). She enjoyed her grandchildren and supported their education and service involvements such as mission trips and Mennonite Central Committee assignments. Donna and her husband enjoyed travel to new areas of the United States, Europe, and Central America and frequently paired travel with short-term service projects. During retirement Donna also volunteered locally at Care and Share, Fulton County Health Center, Sauder Museum, and served on Fairlawn Haven Board. The family will host a visitation on Saturday, February 26, at Central Mennonite Church 1:30-3:30 PM. The memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM followed by a fellowship meal. Handling arrangements is Short Funeral Home, Archbold, Ohio.
