Eli Albaugh, a prominent farmer of Loudon Township and father of Homer Albaugh of Carrollton, died suddenly Saturday night. While in Kilgore attending to business about 7 p.m. and apparently in his usual health, he was stricken with paralysis. He was taken home in an unconscious condition and remained so until death at 1 o'clock A.M. the same night. The remains were interred at Kilgore Monday, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. Kinsley in the M. E. Church where Mr. Albaugh had been a worshipper since his youth. The edifice was crowded to its full capacity. He was born in 1842 on the farm on which he died, and in addition to doing general farm work he was in the threshing business for 45 years. He was married three times, and his widow and two children by his second wife survive -- Homer Albaugh of Carrollton and Miss Lillie Albaugh at home. There was great sorrow over his death, the feeling being that a valued friend and neighbor had passed away. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, January 20, 1910. Suffering a stroke of paralysis at 6 o'clock Saturday evening, Eli Albaugh died Sunday morning at 2 o'clock, near Kilgore, on the farm on which he was born in 1842. He was buried Monday at Kilgore. Mr. Albaugh was one of the best known and most highly respected citizens of Loudon Twp., and in his younger days was one of the leaders of the Carroll County republicans. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church from childhood. Mr. Albaugh was married three times. His first wife was Belle Phillips, his second, Ellen Allmon, and his third, Mrs. Amanda Hosterman, who survives. Two children by his second marriage survives; Homer Albaugh, of Carrollton, and Lillian Albaugh at home. Mrs. Sarah Yenne, of Shoales, Indiana, is a sister, and Samuel Albaugh, of Shoales, Indiana, Bazil, of Kilgore, and Peter Albaugh, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, are brothers. He is charged with $4,624.97, and is entitled to credits of $$2,623.32, leaving a balance of $2,061.65, which has been distributed to the legal claimants.
