Bowman had suddenly passed away at her home on Fourth Avenue in the north part of town. The deceased had been in her usual good health until Sunday when she complained of not feeling well, but considered it only of a slight nature, but Monday morning, she arose and said she felt some better. Ralph, her son, who has been with his mother constantly of late years, advised her to lay down and rest on the davenport. She soon apparently fell asleep, when he began to prepare of the noon day meal, as it had been his custom quite often when his mother was not feeling well, but when his labors were finished, and he went to arouse her, he discovered that she had passed on as she slept. Mrs. Bowman was a woman who was greatly devoted to her family and home and her passing leaves of vacancy in the home that can never be filled. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Church of which congregation she had been a faithful attendant and lifelong member, Rev. W. F. Clayburg officiating. Interment was made in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Elizabeth Davis was born at Winona Lake, Indiana, November 20, 1849, and passed away in Coon Rapids, Iowa, December 9, 1929, at the age of 80 years, and 19 days. She spent her girlhood in Indiana and came with her parents to Poweshiek County, Iowa, in 1866, just after the Civil War. She was married to Andrew Wilson Bowman in June 1873, at Montezuma, Iowa. In 1881, with her husband, she moved to Viola Township, Audubon County, Iowa, 10 miles southwest of Coon Rapids. In 1897 the family moved into town and Mrs. Bowman had lived continuously at her home on Fourth Avenue until her death. The husband passed away in March 1917. Mrs. Bowman was the mother of seven children, five of whom are still living and were present at the funeral. They are Mrs. Grace Jones and Ralph C. Bowman of Coon Rapids, Miss Nell Bowman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. Bonnie Ford of Storm Lake and Mrs. Jennie Price of Des Moines. The eldest son, Edward, died at Grinnell in 1920 and another son Barton, was killed in an auto accident near Carroll in 1924. She also mothered a grandson, Ardon, from infancy to manhood.
