Weigand was held from the Catholic church Tuesday morning June 21st and the interment in the Catholic cemetery west of Burlington. Rev. Father Weigand was in charge of the services and officiated as celebrant at the Requiem Solemn High mass assisted by Father Domann as deacon and Father Hall of Waverly as sub-deacon. WEIGAND IS LAID TO REST The funeral of Frank L. Weigand was held from the Catholic church Tuesday morning June 21st and the interment in the Catholic cemetery west of Burlington. Rev. Father Weigand was in charge of the services and officiated as celebrant at the Requiem Solemn High mass assisted by Father Domann as deacon and Father Hall of Waverly as sub-deacon. Father Domann preached a brief sermon, consoling and cheering the bereaved family. The large church was crowded with mourning friends and relatives who called to pay a tribute of respect and esteem for the departed and a large number went to the cemetery for the service there. The pall bearers were: C. J. Hoffmans, L. H. Hannen, J. F. Grennan, Frank W. Haight, Geo. J. Weigand, and Frank Weigand. Frank L. Weigand was born in Muskingdon county Ohio near Zanesville, April 17, 1850. When four years old he moved with his parents to Illinois and then came to this county in October 1870. He was married February 2, 1875 to Miss Mary Hussey, their marriage being the first one ever solemnized in the old Catholic church which formerly stood three blocks north of the present handsome edifice. To this union were born six children, all of whom were present for the funeral. The children were Mrs. Mary Neibrecht, of Gridley, Wm. Weigand of Los Angeles, Calif., Joseph of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Nellie Cushman of Parsons and Lida and George who live at home. In addition to the wife and children Mr. Weigand is survived by three brothers and one sister, Father Weigand of Berlin, Ill., J. J. Weigand, Mrs. Frank Hoffmans and Chas. Weigand of Burlington. Mr. Weigand was a resident of Coffey county for forty years and during all of that time lived on the same farm southwest of town. He was a good farmer, a fine neighbor, a loyal citizen and a loving and thoughtful husband and father. [The Daily Republican (Burlington, Kansas) - Thursday, June 23, 1910]
