Read More	GEORGE WEIGAND FUNERAL IS HELD HERE THURSDAY The funeral of George Lyon Weigand was held Thursday morning at the Catholic church in charge of Rev. Father A. E. Kamp, requiem high mass being sung. Interment was in the Calvary cemetery west of Burlington. The service was an impressive one. Father Kamp preached a splendid funeral sermon and the music by the choir was beautiful. The members of the local K. of C. lodge attended the services in a body. George L. Weigand was born at the old home place at the Weigand Hill, west of Burlington, Kan., December 5, 1885 and grew to manhood in this vicinity. He was married February 11, 1920 to Miss Mary Frances George of Burlington more familiarly known to her friends as "Fannie", at Fullerton Calif., which place has since been their home. Mr. Weigand was accidentally killed at 11 o'clock Friday morning December 3, 1920 when a rig in the Federal Oil Company's field near Fullerton fell on him, crushing him about the stomach. He was rushed at once to a hospital, but lived only a few minutes, and died without recovering consciousness. The body was brought to Burlington for interment and laid to rest beside the bodies of his father and mother. His brother, Will J. Weigand, who also lived in California, assisted Mrs. Weigand in closing up her affairs there, disposing of her home etc., but on account of illness he could not accompany her to Burlington. Mrs. Weigand will make her home here for the present at least. Mr. Weigand's sudden death was a great shock to his family and to his friends, of whom he had an unusually large number. Among those here for the funeral were: Mrs. C. F. Lusk, Mrs. Wayne Traylor, Mrs. Marybelle Jones, Mr. and Mrs. George Ott, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Brandon, D. P. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. George, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Calvert, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. O. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tilford, Mrs. C. E. Romary, Mrs. C. A. Atkinson, Mrs. Wm. Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Niles, all of Lebo; Mr. and Mrs. Will Kershner of Parsons, and Mrs. Neibrecht and Winifred of Dallas Texas.
