Description	:	Frederick G. Dowane Sr. was one of eight known children born to Morris de Lafayette and Elizabeth Ann Marshall Dowane. He was born in Camp Far West, Yuba County, Calif. On June 23, 1891 he married Nellie Eula Wallace, parentage unknown presently. Read More	Frederick G. Dowane Sr. was one of eight known children born to Morris de Lafayette and Elizabeth Ann Marshall Dowane. He was born in Camp Far West, Yuba County, Calif. On June 23, 1891 he married Nellie Eula Wallace, parentage unknown presently. Frederick and Eula had six known children: Frederick Gordon (Jr.?), Wallace Edgar, Nellie, Henry Clinton, Mark Donald and Irving V. Irving V Deickmiller I found out about Nellie as I was going thru newspaper articles and there was a short notice about her death. Fred and Eulas divorce was finalized March 21 of 1908 . She remarried August Henry Diechmiller or Dieckmiller or Deickmiller or Deichmiller (spelling depending on the document) and had two more known children with August: August Henry and Louise Gusta. Several of her children with Frederick took the name Dieckmiller or anyone of the different spellings. Fred had a rough life and in the end because of alcoholism he was eventually sent to a mental hospital where he passed away in 1924. He was a painter. He painted and papered buildings and he painted paintings. One painting was hanging at Sutters Fort in 1977 and a local archivist is looking for it. It was a painting of "Camp Far West" as it looked in 1849. It was presented at the California Exposition in 1886. Another painting he was working on in May of 1888 was of the baptism of "Our Savior by John the Baptist at the River Jordan". Nothing else was written about the painting. He also did a painting called "Electric Lights" as seen at Marysville from Wheatland. He entered it in an Exposition of some kind in 1890 and won one dollar. Nothing else was written about that painting either. While attempting to research the first painting I decided to look at all the newspaper articles available to me and there were a lot. However I did find that Frederick was cremated at the mental hospital and he was brought back to Wheatland to be buried in the family plot. The plot he is buried in was purchased by John R. Harding when his wife Amy Dowane Harding died and they were living in the area. John R. eventually remarried and moved to Browns Valley and turned the plot over to the Dowane family. Someone had stones done at one time but there are some missing and the small ones with just a name and dates are mostly wrong. I have tried to find out from the cemetery who did the stones, who had them put in, who the company was etc..but no one seems to know. I have just found that Fred is buried here and his daughter Nellie and there are no stones for them so not sure where their burials would be recorded. I found Irvings FAG memorial-however the manager does not accept messages-She lists him with the wrong biological parent. He did not use the Dowane name after a few years. I haven't found Wallace Edgar or Mark Donalds burial information
