Description	:	Walter Alfred Martinsen 9/30/1928 – 9/19/2007 Walter A. Martinsen was born in Nevada City, Calif. on September 30, 1928, to Olaf and Florence Martinsen. He passed away after a year-long struggle against cancer on September 19, 2007. Walter was a lifelong resident of Placer County, living in Foresthill, Calif. from 1928 to 1965 and in Lincoln from 1965 through 2007. Martinsen was born in Nevada City, Calif. on September 30, 1928, to Olaf and Florence Martinsen. He passed away after a year-long struggle against cancer on September 19, 2007. Walter was a lifelong resident of Placer County, living in Foresthill, Calif. from 1928 to 1965 and in Lincoln from 1965 through 2007. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and card player. He also enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, and golfing. He was an active member of the American Legion. Walter had careers in both the lumber industry and in heavy construction. Projects on which he worked include the French Meadows reservoir dam, the Auburn-Foresthill bridge, and numerous other roads, bridges, and overpasses in northern California. Walter is survived by his wife, Amy, of Lincoln, Calif.; son, Gary, of Kettering, Ohio, son, Clifford (Ole), daughter-in-law, Kate; granddaughter, Emily, all of Rocklin, Calif.; and brother, William Martinsen, of Foresthill, Calif. A private memorial will be held. Interment will be at the Foresthill Cemetery. .
