Buschman officiated at the committal service interment in the Colfax Center cemetery, where a graveside flag presentation was made by the Grundy Center American Legion Post.Friends and relatives returned to the church following the committal service for fellowship and refreshments.Sicko was born May 3, 1894 in Wedde, Netherlands, the son of John and Jacoba Strezenau Luchtenburg. He came to America as a young man and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. On December 23, 1919 he was united in marriage with Ella Hippen. After their marriage they farmed in Grundy county until 1959 when they retired and moved to Grundy Center.He entered the hospital May 2, 1978 and became a resident of the LTC unit on June 19. Mr. Luchtenburg was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church where he served three-year terms as trustee, Sunday School treasurer and elder.Survivors are his wife, Ella, two sons, Frank and Donald of Cedar Falls, two daughters, Mrs. Art (Lillian) Flater of rural Holland and Mrs. Lee (Pauline) Arends of rural Parkersburg, one brother Aalko of Stadskannal, Netherlands, 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.A memorial fund has been established.
