Description	:	Marian Shaffner, 92, of Pierre, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Maryhouse Nursing Center in Pierre. Interment will follow at Scotty Philip Cemetery in Fort Pierre. Feigum-VanLith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Marian Kathrine Myers was born to William and Margaret (Kelley) Myers. She grew up and went to high school and college in the Orient-Redfield area. Marian taught country school for several years before she went on to get her cosmetology license. She worked in Pierre for Hazel Hall, where she met and married Everett Shaffner in 1936. They had three children, Kay, Gary... She grew up and went to high school and college in the Orient-Redfield area. Marian taught country school for several years before she went on to get her cosmetology license. She worked in Pierre for Hazel Hall, where she met and married Everett Shaffner in 1936. They had three children, Kay, Gary (deceased), and Judy. She did various things throughout her life, from teaching, hair styling, bartending, waitressing, owning and working in a service station, driving and owning a taxi service, and ushering in a theater. Her later years were spent operating the "Rite Spot" café. Marian and Everettalso operated the Odemark's Antique Bar until she retired. Her passion then was bingo, going anywhere people would take her. She loved to go to Deadwood. Alzheimer's took control of her body and ended her fun-loving ways. Marian is survived by two daughters, Kay Shaffner and Judy (Sheldon) Badger, both of Pierre; 13 grandchildren and their children. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Everett; her son Gary; two granddaughters, Lori and Shelly; her sister, Vivian Mallow; her brother, Leo Myers; and her parents.
